Hallé Aish
Halle is currently in her first year of studying environmental science at the University of Waikato while working as a field facilitator for Trees for Survival. This job involves working with 7 schools in the region, pairing with farmers, local marae and council members to organize planting the native plants schools have grown through the TfS program. Through her work, Halle gets to be a part of encouraging kids in being a part of the change. Halle is a big believer in each of us having a responsibility to take part with the initiative, as there are many organizations out there in need of more active volunteers. Through volunteering with various organizations, in pest control, fundraising and regenerative planting efforts, she is gaining important skills for continuing this crucial work in the future, while taking part now. Her aim as a young person is to be a part of improving education, to help kids and adults to understand how we can make use of our country’s natural assets by planting native trees. Halle hopes to see an increased focus towards ensuring biodiversity and protection of endangered native plant species in this area in the future.
