Dr. Jason Preble (PhD)
Jason is a conservation biologist from Waiheʻe, Oʻahu, interested in the restoration of native ecosystems (particularly on islands) and the cultural value of biodiversity.
Jasonʻs first introduction to conservation work was through the Oʻahu Army Natural Resources Program, which works to recover over 50 endangered Hawaiian species including plants, vertebrates, and invertebrates. With the eventual goal of improving natural resource management in his home islands, Jason pursued graduate degrees to learn from conservation strategies abroad. His research focused on reintroduced birds in Wellington and rare forest bats in Japanʻs Ryukyu Islands.
After learning from various conservation projects, Jason is convinced that supporting the proliferation and growth of restoration groups could create a step change for biodiversity conservation. Jason now serves the restoration movement in Hawaiʻi and the Asia/Pacific region through Terraformation and its partnerships.
