Ben Tyas
Ben is a forester for Environment Canterbury Regional Council and is responsible for managing a moderate-sized forestry estate around the Canterbury Plains for an ever-expanding range of public values. He is a member of the NZIF and Future Foresters and has been practising since graduating 5 years ago. His position in-part pushes and implements new native afforestation opportunities which align with the council’s acknowledgement of a climate emergency and biodiversity crisis, however, he understands the challenges that come with this in a practical and business investment sense.
